The rise of dawn....

(this store is in... where else?.... Japan. But, no joke, I think I ACTUALLY saw a branch in Singapore)

Hey Sabrina, remember all those signs we saw in Indonesia that said "Soft Opening" & we in our oh-so-mature state giggled every time?

Gol dang, girl...how could I forget THAT! I never knew which was funnier, that or the white tanker trucks that had SEMEN written in huge letters on the side (for those not in the know as far as Indonesian lingo goes, "semen" is the actual word in Indonesian for "cement" and they transport it in tanker trucks that look like they'd carry milk or petroleum...or other liquids. Quite a sight for the first time visitor. And as for "soft opening"...these were real signs, that seemed to be synonymous with the "grand opening" for a new store, but for some inexplicable reason they said "soft" instead of "grand" (and yes, they used English language for some reason). So most commercial streets had at least one "soft opening" around. Heh, heh, thanks Shelley for that reminder. By the way, I'm working on a way to get down to San Diego when I get back.
